La Isla Bonita: Wedding Planner Ibiza
I could bang on forever about my love affair with Ibiza. And before you say it, no, i’m not a hardcore techno head with a penchant for glow sticks and all night raves! Quite the opposite. Sure I like to dip in and out of the dance music scene (it’s one of the best places in the world to disover new music), but there is much more to Ibiza than that. There is a dreamy, ethereal side that has long had me day-dreaming about owning a boutique Spanish casa on the White Isle. The fincas here, also known as agroturismos, marry traditional moorish design with purist, scandinavian and far east influences to stunning effect. You can stay as cheap or as indulgently as you like here, which is another reason to keep coming back. The best time of year to visit is in the Spring, between April and June, when the flowers are blossoming into bursts of fuschia and violet. The sun is warming up, the sea is fresh and the beaches are deserted with all but a few locals and in-the-know visitors who are in on the secret that spring is when Ibiza is at its best. At this time of year, the 5 star luxury agroturismos have special offers and discounts, sometimes as much as 50% off their normal room rates. Atzaro, a spectacular Zen-inspired haven, often promote two nights in a double superior room with breakfast, 3 course dinner for two and a massage each at their incredible spa for 395e. Obviously this promotion changes year to year, but you get the gist. I hopped over for 3 nights in April and stayed in a perfectly located hotel for 10e a night!! Hotel Maritimo in Figueretas offered such a deal when two people were sharing. It was spotlessly clean, had a fairly large balcony and a hearty breakfast thrown in. There aren’t many places that offer such incredible value for money. Flights are also fabulously cheap at this time of year, with return flights often costing no more than £40 (hand luggage only). If music is the answer for you, you will still find plenty to amuse you in April, but from May 15th onwards, it is guaranteed to entice you. For the best restaurants, bars and beaches…read on and maybe you’ll start your own little love affair with La Isla Blanca…. Flights: Are SO ridiculously cheap in April/May. I went in both months this year and got return tickets for £38 hand luggage only. Even in the height of the season you can find return flights for as little as £70 if you’re felxible with dates. All major airports fly to here and most of the airlines too. Flights times are great too. It’s my one little obsession…trying to get the most out of the days. Fly early and travel back late to make the most of the sunshine. Temperatures: I went on April 20th this year and the weather was gorgeous during the day. It was overcast till 11am then beautiful clear skies. It was chilly on a night though. Bring a cardigan or jacket for April time. In May it was warming up nicely and the evenings were warmer too. June is the best time to go to Ibiza in my opinion. The weather is hot but not sweltering and it’s not as crowded in the bars/restaurants/clubs. September is good too but the heat from the summer builds up and you can get some rain, but only for a day or so. I’ve been to the island in October and it’s been deliciously warm and sunny too! So really it’s only December-Feb you want to avoid. Saying that word on the grapevine is that they can still be on the beach in December!
