Shoreditch: London Insider Tips
When I came out of the station at Shoreditch overground, it was surprisingly serene. I expected hustle and bustle mixed with a hum of drum and base. Don’t ask me why. Shoreditch has long been named the hip hangout of East London, so I guess I expected bags of pretentious attitude and a sea of ‘too cool for skool’ pouty faces. You do get a bit of that, but on the whole, Shoreditch massively exceeded my expectations. I stumbled across an amazing place called The Boundary www.theboundary.co.uk (turn left at the tube, cross the road, walk up Ebor Street and turn left). It was scorching hot. I think I mentioned before about the 27 degrees in London that day (unheard of!!) and all I wanted was a roof terrace to sit and sip an ice cold cocktail. Et Voila! As if by magic The Boundary Rooftop Restaurant appeared (unlike members hotel, Shoreditch House, anyone can enjoy the luxury up here). Balearic beats tinkled along the warm breeze as I took in the panoramic view of the London cityscape. Friendly waiters wore straw boaters and hovered unassumingly, should you need to order a hummus dip to go with your cocktail. It’s also a hotel, a green grocers AND a restaurant/cafe. In short…it was a fabulous find.
