Yorkshire welcomes the gorgeous film photographer Nadia Hung
Yorkshire: My home county and one I will always come back to no matter where I end up planning in the world- for it’s undeniable beauty, history and salt of the earth, friendly folk. They say it’s God’s own county (as well as home to the best teabags, Yorkshire puddin’s and, some say, the happiest people in the country) and it was this reason that proved irresistible for Vancouver’s best super talent, Nadia Hung, when she approached me to style a Yorkshire wedding shoot for her in ravishing York. How can you turn Nadia down!? Well, the answer is, you can’t. Sunday morning, 5am, and I’m up with the larks unable to sleep because of the excitement. For one, I was in the company of a jaw dropping Laure de Sagazan gown from a beautiful little Irish bridal boutique, The White Gallery. This dress had travelled the north sea and I wasn’t about to let it down! Armed with said dress, a crazy beautiful gold leaf headpiece (also from The White Gallery) and several Boost bars (a stylist never knows when they’ll get to eat on days like these-that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it) I set off to pick up florals from Lucy MacNicholl in a gorgeous country village called Knaresborough. Navigating my way through cobbled lanes, historic monuments and stunning May blossom blowing into the streets, I arrived at Gray’s Court, a gorgeous little boutique wedding hotel venue with all the charm you would expect of a Heritage Trust building. I spent a good 20 minutes snooping in the bedrooms that have the most amazing, ornate carved beds I’ve ever seen! It’s definitely one to check out if you fancy a city break with a difference. But enough of the sneaking and snooping because Claudia, our pretty as a peach model, was waiting for me. She couldn’t have been more perfect for the dress if she’d tried, with ballerina grace, and the limbs to go with it. Nadia captured her beautifully on film, and although these will be launched in print very soon…here’s a sneak peak of the magic we created. If you’re in need of a Yorkshire wedding planner…you know where to find one!
