REAL WEDDING : BALI
Dang girl! These are the kind of words we think of when we think of Beck Rocchi, the incredible fashion photographer we worked with on our divine Bali wedding and our equally divine Sydney couple, Madelin + Matt. The energy and gorgeousness which radiates from these photographs are what make us love our job so much and we’re thrilled to showcase a sneak peak of them in all their stylish, accomplished glory for you here! Dang girl, you nailed it!
The night before this wonderous event, the heavens had opened so magnificently, we were convinced there was nothing left in the sky to fall. When we awoke, we smiled to ourselves that the rain has passed, feeling the sun on our skin, drinking up gallons of ice cold watermelon juice to energise us for the preparations about to take place at Arnalaya Beach House. This house is truly special. It’s a delicious combination of 1970’s California, minimal Bali design and industrial Australian warehouses, situated on the edge of the black sand of Canggu and the Indonesian ocean. Frangipani trees pave the way from the house to the pool, the warm woods contrasting beautifully with the smooth concrete facade. Listening to the sound of tennis balls knocking back and forth as the guys relaxed into their day, we got to work. Palm fronds were Madelin’s favourite concept, so palm fronds we used. Creating a palm foliage backdrop with Phalaenopsis orchids and Balinese roses, we kept the ceremony looking its minimal best; Crisp, simple and striking. Mr & Mrs Davoren’s first dinner as husband and wife was just as breathtaking. Bespoke linens, antique french silver cutlery, hand calligraphy stationary and simple foliage with single stem white flowers were placed down long feasting tables, interspersed with stunning candle light to give an interior design inspired dinner setting.
I’m missing out a crucial element of our day for a reason. Taking us back to the beginning, with that magnificent nightly rain, our ties with the Balinese skies were strangely not over but it wasn’t as detrimental as we first thought. The skies unleashed upon us a great downpour which we could only watch in disbelief. The unpredictable Bali season (normally dry as a bone between June-September), though making us a little distressed, actually provided the most beautiful light possible for our Madelin + Matt. That concrete facade we so lovingly admired, gave a heroic backdrop which saved the day! These are some of my all time favourite images and showcase our stunning bride and groom to perfection. Destination weddings are full of promise of beautiful weather and 9 times out of 10, we’re blessed with this. However, the weather is a cruel mistress at times. Our advice is to take the unpredictability in your stride, for the best days are those that are filled with laughter and love. They say everything happens for a reason, a sentiment which rings so true for this day. Take a look for yourself…you’ll see what we mean. Wedded bliss perfection!
